In 1996, our beloved Sara was killed in a bus crash in India along with three classmates while participating in the University of Pittsburgh’s Semester at Sea program. The students were traveling to the Taj Mahal when their bus lost control on a treacherous road during a long, nighttime drive.

We believe that if Sara had been wearing a seatbelt, she would be alive today. In her memory, Sara’s Wish Foundation works to save lives through stronger safety laws and one simple message:
